This is a drawing of an object that will be part of the installation. The installation will open in July 2012 and will consist of dressers and each drawer in the dresser will have junk drawer items in them.

I had to look up the scientific reference for this. I believe the dead part of the flower is the locale which holds the seeds inside. These tiny guys are so weird because they look like bird heads that have shrivelled up over time. Ever since I watched Little Otik, a Czech movie from 2000, I always think these objects found in nature will come back to life.
